Welcome to the Zombie Survival Australia resource and discussion site
The Great Southern Land, also known as Australia is a rather interesting place to live. It's a country that's an old country. Not old in its recorded human history post the European arrival, but the landscape, it is old.
It’s a big place being similar in size to the United States of America. It lacks the large populations that other countries such as the United States of America or Europe have. Much of the country isn't suited to human habitation with large areas being arid desert or desert like county. Most of the population lives close to the ocean with a high percentage of the most productive land being within a hundred kilometres of the ocean.
It’s a country with drought and flood being a part of life. Cyclones and bush fires also make living here interesting.
Thus Australia is a country that will react differently and require different responses in the event of the Zombie Apocalypse. As such this site is about the Australian response to Zombie Apocalypse. Now there are people who will say that this whole Zombie thing is just silly.
The Zombie has become a phenomenon of pop culture and is a sociological curiosity. The Zombie idea has become a brilliant vehicle for preparedness in media and culture. It's a fun way of considering and preparing for less interesting events that require people to adapt and survive. By less interesting we refer to the total lack of zombies and not to the fact that homes, lives and environments are destroyed.
Evacuating for a bushfire and Zombie apocalypse are similar. Plague preparation and zombie preparation are similar. Flood, tempest, fire and plague are all things that are possible in modern Australian life but lack the intellectual fun that is the Zom-poc (Zombie Apocalypse).
So the Zombie thing isn't silly when you consider the practical aspects.
It is also a vehicle for considering what the world and societies may look like after an apocalyptic event. These can be examined through the lens of legal systems, interpersonal relationships, governmental structures and psychology.
We are not a "Prepper" or "Survivalist" site, more we are a site looking at pop culture and visions of an apocalyptic future as seen through fiction.
There may be no such thing as the zombie and there may never be such a thing. The writer has never seen a zombie but that's not enough evidence to discount the zombie. Welcome to Zombie Survivor Australia and hopefully there will be some useful stuff that will help the reader get through the Zom-poc and have some fun on the way.
